About Us

The South Bay Chamber Music Society has been bringing world-class chamber music to the South Bay since 1963. Intimate, expressive, and full of surprises, chamber music offers a rare chance to hear great musicians up close, sharing the kind of musical conversations you won’t find in a large concert hall.

Our season runs September through April and features seven pairs of concerts—Friday evenings at the Music Department Recital Hall at Harbor College and Sunday afternoons at Pacific Unitarian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. All concerts are free and open to the public.

We are funded almost entirely by generous individual donations, with additional support from grants, and every dollar goes directly toward presenting these concerts. The Society is run entirely by dedicated volunteers.

The season is curated by Artistic Director Robert Thies, a Grammy-nominated pianist praised for his artistry and thoughtful programming.
